Hana Abri Smith is a figurative painter based in Belfast. Her work explores memory, performance and dystopian narratives, rooted in the real but often skewing towards the surreal.

This exhibition comes at a turning point, presenting both new and established works, exploring the idea of renewal after a period of perceived failure. Navigating disability within the last year, Hana is interested in accommodating inconsistencies, relinquishing the want for control.

These themes expand into her process of art making, focusing on experimentation instead of a strict plan for how a work needs to look or feel. The paintings carry their own inconsistencies, deliberately distorting perspectives and warping worlds, we start to piece together a temperamental terrain.
